About Me
My name is Steven Roberts aka FenderQ. Independent video game development is what I do. My released titles include Universe64 on the App Store for iPad and the FenderQ Adventures! series for Microsoft Windows.
I am really into programming with C and Objective-C using OpenGL ES 2.0 for graphics. I make video game music with GarageBand. I create pixel art using Gimp. I am currently working with iOS for Apple mobile devices.
This is me programming on my Macbook at work.
My first experience with video games was going to the video arcade in the early 80s. It was like going to another planet for me. Shortly after that my Dad bought a Commodore VIC-20 and I played Space Invaders, Radar Rat Race, and Choplifter. Next was the Commodore 64, a PC, NES, SNES, Playstation 1, 2, 3, PSP and now iPhone and iPad.
I also have a lot of great memories of gaming with family and friends. I remember my Dad teaching me how to fly a helicopter in Gunship, and my best friend down the street and I playing Doom over the telephone for the first time. Or that Christmas when I got an EGA card and monitor so I could play Space Quest III in color.
My goal with making video games is to create fun experiences for everyone to enjoy, in the hope that they become inspired to make games as well.
